Attachments Are The Doorway to Freedom: Scorpio Full Moon

On May 5th, we will witness a powerful astrological event – the Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio, which coincides with a Full Moon and the Lunar South Node. This Lunar Eclipse will occur during the height of Taurus season, and it will be a penumbral eclipse, where the alignment of the Sun, Earth, and the Moon are imperfect. As a result, the Earth blocks some of the Sun’s light from directly reaching the Moon’s surface, casting a shadow over all or part of the Moon.

The Full Moon in Scorpio is associated with the lower triangle, representing our sexuality, security, finances, relationships, home, and sense of stability in our lives. This eclipse season and this Full Moon will shine a light on those issues that hinder the full and healthy expression of the lower triangle energies.

Scorpion energy embodies the virtue of patience before striking, and brings us a heightened intuitive sense that can uncover hidden aspects of ourselves. Spiritually, the Scorpion represents change through death and rebirth. As the aspects of our ego die we are reborn anew each time. Scorpion energy enables effective transmutation of toxins and will allow us to purge the toxic patterns that limit us.

It is a time to question whether we are truly embodying and living our soul’s brilliance. Are our lives, every breath, every creation we build with our hands and heart, a reflection of that brilliance? Are we creating from fear? Or soul expression and flow? Scorpio urges us to dive deep into our emotional waters, to confront our fears of betrayal, abandonment, and loss. To create the life we truly want and deserve we have to heal these fears and realize what we think from the outside limits us is really an energy of belief within. Freedom is never granted from the outside. It is created from the inside.

This process of purging has already started and may have been occurring since the end of the previous eclipse cycles in 2022 even. It’s an opportunity to address dysfunctional patterns and toxic dependencies on emotions and sex, and repressed self-worth that may hinder our ability to create abundance and stability. Our relationship with sexual energy is connected to our fear of a stable home and authentic relationships with abundance. The root, sacral, and solar plexus chakras are the power points for our relationships with the physical manifestations of our life.

To let go of our fears and traumas, we must face them head-on. We need to sit with them, embrace them, and listen deeply to our inner selves. By reflecting on these emotions and allowing ourselves to feel them deeply, we can begin the path towards integration and release. This process may involve somatic release, where we allow our bodies to physically release tension and trauma. Our inner child, the parts of our psyche that are most affected by our traumas, simply long for the embrace that can help release them from their pain. So by taking the time to listen to ourselves, feel our emotions, and offer ourselves compassion, we can begin to heal and move forward in a positive direction. Taurus energy encourages us to take this inward journey and embody healing and harmony, as does the reflective slowing down that Mercury Retrograde provides.

Mercury retrograde energy has been encouraging reflection and pause. Mercury in Taurus invites us to learn and grow. It is a chance for having important, reflective, purging, and healing conversations. As Mercury is related to communication, thinking, and decision-making, we may see the stories we tell ourselves that overlay what we think people mean. The stories that cause us to react rashly and cause separation and turmoil. The Moon Trine Mars will help us express ourselves with goodwill and harmony, creating constructive circumstances and emphasising self-love.

The Full Moon is conjunct the lunar south node, representing the karmic energy that we are trying to move out of, release, and leave behind in this lifetime. The Sun conjunct Uranus will encourage independence, and unconventional behavior which will fuel our desire to look within ourselves for all answers. We will recognize our capability to make choices that may seem illogical or contradict conventional wisdom but our truly what our hearts want. To gain true empowerment, we must select a life path that resonates deeply within ourselves and define love according to our own terms. When a path doesn’t feel right, trust your intuition and choose a different one. Learn to distinguish between decisions based on trauma attachment and those that arise from the expanded egoless and victimless mentality driven by love.

The number six plays a significant role in this Full Moon event, as it is associated with the Lovers card in tarot, which represents self-love and fate. It prompts us to ask who we need to love to have the authentic life we want? Truly the answer is so simple, it is ourselves. The number six also resonates deeply with creativity and success, making it a powerful number.

This Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio is a powerful opportunity to close cycles, let go of what no longer serves us, and emerge stronger and more aligned with our soul’s purpose. It is a time for vulnerability, deep healing, and transformation. Let us embrace this potent event and trust in the power of the universe to guide us on our path.
